Spot Trading

Spot trading is one of the simplest and most traditional ways of buying and selling financial assets. It's a direct and immediate form of trading, with transactions settling instantly and without any leverage.

If you haven’t finished connecting the CEX and depositing crypto assets into the connected CEX account, refer to the previous documentation here.

How to Access the Spot Trading Interface

On the navigation bar, hover over 'CEX Trade', then click 'Spot' to access the interface.

Market Order

A market order lets you buy or sell a financial asset instantly at the best price currently available. Market orders match prices from limit orders on the order book. This means you can’t be 100% certain of the price you will get. Slippage can occur when you receive a price different from what you expected.

  1. Selecting the Order Side

  • Buy at market price: If you click 'Buy', the buy mode will appear green on the interface.

  • Sell at market price: If you click 'Sell', the sell mode will appear red on the interface.

  1. Enter the Amount

When you place a market order, you are taking the price set by someone else. Therefore, you don’t need to set the price. For example, an exchange will match a purchase market order to the lowest ask price on the order book. In contrast, a sell market order will be matched with the highest bid price on the order book.

  1. Execute Order

Click 'Buy' or 'Sell' to execute the order.

Limit Order

A limit order is placed on the order book with a specific limit price. It will only be executed if the market price reaches your limit price (or better). You may use limit orders to buy an asset at a lower price or sell at a higher price than the current market price.

  1. Selecting the Order Side

  • Buy at limit price: If you click 'Buy', the buy mode will appear green on the interface.

  • Sell at limit price: If you click 'Sell', the sell mode will appear red on the interface.

  1. Enter the Price

Enter the price you want to buy or sell at. A limit order gives you more control over the execution price. However, there is no guarantee that your limit order will be executed. If the market price never reaches the limit price, your trade will remain unfilled on the order book.

  1. Enter the Amount

When a limit order is submitted, it will be placed on the order book immediately, but it won’t be filled unless the asset price reaches the specified limit price (or better). Your limit order will then be filled with the remaining liquidity.

  1. Execute Order

Click 'Buy' or 'Sell' to execute the order.
